Hello Northern Colorado Manufacturers! With funding through the Colorado Workforce Development Council – we have developed Supervisory/Management Training designed especially for Manufacturers. We brought together supervisors in the industry and instructional designers to develop: the NOCO Manufacturing Supervisor Training Program.

LENGTH:

10 Modules/Weeks | 4 hours per Module/Week

Part 1 – Manage your Team

Part 2 – Manage your Business

(Part 1 and Part 2 are each 5 weeks| 4 hours/Week)

Boulder County Campus in  Longmont

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

You’ve moved into a new role – Manufacturing Supervisor. Now you have so many questions about topics you have never even had to consider before: legal issues, writing job descriptions, hiring and firing, managing a team, analyzing financials, using measurement, lean and problem solving tools, – it’s just the beginning. This course  will give you the tools you need to easily make the transition into your new role and help your team succeed. Over 10 weeks, 4 hours per week, you will learn the basic elements necessary to all new supervisors and have the opportunity to get answers to your most important questions. This interactive course will leave you with the “tools in your toolbox” to do your job!

AUDIENCE:

Individuals with manufacturing experience moving into or new to the supervisor role. Also for someone in a supervisory role wanting to brush up on the skills needed to perform their job.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Math skills – understand ratios, multiplication, percentages
  • HS degree or equivalent
  • Basic reading comprehension
  • Basic writing skills
  • Basic computer literacy

TOPIC/LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

PART ONE – MANAGE YOUR TEAM

MODULE ONE: Safe Work Practices – Includes standard OSHA regulations, incident and accident reports, job hazard assessments and safety reports.

MODULE TWO: HR and Legal Policies – Standard HR policies including title 14, ADA, FMLA, Workers Comp, HIPAA legal requirements & diversity guidelines.

MODULE THREE: Job Defining Skills – Developing and understanding job descriptions, recruiting, and conducting interviews.

MODULE FOUR: Develop/Train Employees – Coaching individuals and teams, motivating employees, explaining work processes, completing performance appraisals with action plans.

MODULE FIVE: Conflict Resolution & Good Communication –  Team meetings, making decisions, following guidelines, critical conversations and discipline.

PART TWO – MANAGE YOUR BUSINESS

MODULE SIX: Business Acumen – Define Business Acumen and why it is important,Understand labor and materials paperwork, key metrics.

MODULE SEVEN: Measurement Skills –Review types of metrics, examine KPI’s, examine methods of collecting data, practice analysis tools.

MODULE EIGHT: Problem Solving – Problem solving techniques, analyze root causes, improvement recommendations and continuous improvement tools.

MODULE NINE: Production Planning – Planning, scheduling and dispatching.  Identify product and process data, create master production schedule, organize and dispatch resources, explaination of manufacturing, resourse planning.

MODULE TEN: Eliminate Waste – Benefits of Lean, improve efficiency and reduce waste of workspace, apply standardized work, explore other waste reduction tools.

COURSE COST and SCHEDULE:

We are now taking reservations for PART ONE (modules one through five). Tuition is $750 for 5 modules.
